Sue Bradford

Executive Director

As Executive Director of the Duxbury Student Union, Sue Bradford has spent more than sixteen years transforming DSU into a place where young people discover confidence, character, and a sense of belonging. She leads with a simple but powerful conviction: when children feel safe, connected, and inspired, they grow into adults who strengthen every community they touch.

Sue brings decades of experience in communications, fundraising, youth development, and community-building to her role, along with a rare intuition for what kids and families need most. Before joining DSU, she managed high-impact events and development initiatives for organizations such as the American Heart Association, Crossroads for Kids, Island Creek Oysters Festival, and the Duxbury Art Association. These roles honed her ability to combine vision with execution, strategy with heart, and community partnerships with meaningful results.

Under Sue’s leadership, DSU has evolved from a traditional after-school program into Duxbury’s Launchpad for Life — a vibrant hub where students build real-world life skills, discover their strengths, and learn how to lead with empathy and purpose. She has championed programs that introduce teens to career pathways, amplify student voice, encourage civic engagement, and ensure that every family — regardless of background — feels welcome and supported.

Sue’s leadership is grounded in an unwavering commitment to Duxbury’s youth. She is known for creating environments where students feel seen, valued, and understood; for cultivating partnerships that strengthen DSU’s impact; and for designing experiences that ignite curiosity, build resilience, and nurture a deeper sense of community connection.

Today, DSU stands as a testament to her vision: an independent, community-powered nonprofit that gives every child a place to thrive — and a foundation for a life filled with possibility.

Beyond her role at DSU, Sue is deeply woven into the fabric of Duxbury. She serves on the Duxbury High School School-Council and the board of the Duxbury Bay Maritime School. She is a former Deacon at Pilgrim Church, has served on both the Duxbury Superintendent’s Search Committee and the Pilgrim Church Senior Minister Search Committee, and co-chaired Duxbury FACTS, an organization dedicated to reducing substance misuse and increasing mental health awareness among youth. Sue has also been a dedicated volunteer and organizer for Duxbury’s Grad Nite for four years — another example of her commitment to celebrating and supporting young people at every milestone.
