Melsie Gaignard
DSU Board of Directors
Melsie Gaignard is an experienced educator and school leader whose career is rooted in community, service, and supporting young people. With 18 years in education, including eight years as a mathematics teacher and nearly a decade as Assistant Principal at Plymouth South Middle School, Melsie brings both instructional expertise and leadership experience to his role on the DSU Board. His work has always centered on building strong relationships, supporting teachers, and creating environments where students feel safe, supported, and inspired to grow.
Joining the Duxbury Student Union Board felt like a natural extension of his commitment to giving back. As a parent of a current DSU student, with younger siblings soon to follow, Melsie chose to get involved at a time when he could meaningfully contribute to the community shaping his children’s day-to-day experience. He brings firsthand insight into how supportive after-school spaces and caring mentors can help young people build confidence, curiosity, and resilience.
What drew him most to DSU is the organization’s whole-child approach — nurturing social development, reinforcing strong study habits, offering enriching camps, and surrounding students with positive adult role models. He believes deeply in the kind of environment where kids feel known, encouraged, and excited to learn — and sees DSU as a place that provides exactly that.
Melsie is proud to serve on the DSU Board and to support an organization that makes a meaningful difference for families across Duxbury. His commitment to DSU’s mission reflects a lifelong dedication to helping young people thrive and become the best versions of themselves.
