Amazing Race 2026: DSU Edition

Parent Consent & Payment Form

We’re thrilled to have your DMS student join the Amazing Race: DSU Edition on Thursday, November 19, from 11:15 AM to 2:45 PM!

Students will tap into real-world life skills – decision-making, teamwork, budgeting, and social awareness, all wrapped up in a fast-paced, fun community adventure.

Here’s how it works:

Teams of two (2 DMS students) will solve local clues and complete surprise challenges together, and earn points from real Duxbury businesses.
No phones allowed, just creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving!
The race begins at the Gatra stop at the back of the Duxbury Free Library where challenges will be communicated.
The Winning team of 2 that completes all challenges with positive business reviews will win the title and share the cash prize.

Cost: $50 per participant (includes $10 lunch stipend and Gatra transportation).

Parent Acknowledgements

Please confirm that you have reviewed and discussed the following with your student:

I approve my student to be dismissed 5 minutes early from DMS to catch the Gatra bus and will send in a dismissal note to the DMS office.

My student understands and agrees to follow the DSU Code of Conduct and will wear their official Amazing Race name badge at all times during the event.

The name badge identifies each participant as part of the DSU program and reminds students to represent their school and community respectfully while visiting local businesses.

My student has permission to travel by Gatra bus to and from Hall’s Corner and I have relayed the expectations of traveling on public transport (lining up for the bus, no pushing or loud behavior, offering your seat to an older passenger, respecting the experience of other passengers and honoring the quiet, calm environment).

My student understands traffic and pedestrian safety and may walk safely between race locations.

My student will receive a $10 lunch stipend and must make smart spending decisions within that budget (a receipt is required as proof as one of the challenges). No extra money is required.

My student may be photographed or filmed by DSU staff for promotional use.

I do not authorize DSU to take photos or film with my student in view.

I understand DSU is not responsible for lost or stolen valuables including backpacks, phones and money.

My student does not need a phone for any challenges; use of a phone may result in disqualification.

Students will return to DSU by 2:15 PM for final celebrations. Winners will be announced when all Halls Corner business feedback is received and challenges are completed.

Consent Confirmation

My student and I have reviewed the rules and expectations, and I give consent for my student to participate fully in the Amazing Race DSU Edition.

Refund and Safety Policies

I understand that registration is non-refundable unless the event is canceled due to weather or safety concerns. This is a rain or shine event.

I acknowledge that transportation will be provided via Gatra bus and that my student will be accompanied by DSU staff or designated chaperones. It is imperative they arrive 5 minutes ahead of other middle schoolers to ensure getting on the bus.

I understand that respectful behavior is expected at all times toward peers, businesses, and staff.

Team Preferences and Questions

Teams compete in groups of 2. We will try our best to honor team selection. If you know who your child will work well with, list them here.
