SUMMARY:Computer Building Camp (3 days June 20-22)
DESCRIPTION:Computer Building Camp – June 20 – 22 at DSU (3 days from 4pm to 6pm each day) \nCalling all engineers\, programmers\, gamers\, and tech wizards! DSU has teamed up with DHS senior Bradley Harrington to host a computer building camp for students entering 6th grade and older. Participants will identify parts of a computer\, install proper software\, assemble a computer from start to finish\, and leave with the knowledge to build their own computer. \n\n \nComputer Building camp is $110 for 3 days\, 4pm-6pm with pizza to celebrate on the last day. Space is limited. All computer components will be provided for building purposes. Computer builders will receive Bradley’s Builders Cheat sheet at the end of camp\, which will include his recommended vendors for purchasing components parts to build their computer. Bradley will also share his contact information after the camp if builders have questions.\n\n\n \nAbout the Instructor\n\nBradley is an avid computer builder. He started tinkering in the 5th grade and built his own computer. Over the years he has built many computers for friends and family. He has loved sharing his knowledge and has hosted classes with middle schoolers and a few ambitious Alden students. Bradley is studying Computer Science in the fall at Boston College. His first computer\, now a powerful version 3.0 with upgrades and switched out parts\, will go with him to college for gaming and homework.

SUMMARY:Duxbury FACTS Meeting
DESCRIPTION:On March 10\, 2020\, Duxbury FACTS hosted “Teens & Screens: Life Skills for the Digital Age\,” and showed the film “Screenagers NEXT CHAPTER: Uncovering Skills for Stress Resilience.” Little did we know that within days schools and workplaces would close as we shifted into remote mode with the onset of the pandemic. After two and a half years of masking\, Zooming\, COVID-19 testing\, vaccinating and quarantining\, Duxbury FACTS is eager to resume its mission with education and resources. \nOur dual goals of promoting mental health and preventing substance misuse remain the same. What’s different is the multitude of ways the pandemic challenged us. While we’ve adapted with new skills and ways to connect\, we also face the ongoing effects of those challenges. FACTS wants to hear from you – parents\, students\, teachers\, health care providers\, coaches – so that we can bring meaningful programs and resources to the community. \nPlease join us for an open meeting on Tuesday\, October 4 at 7:00pm at Alden Elementary School\, Room 104\, to talk about how we can work together to promote mental wellness and healthy self-care.
