Duxbury FACTS and Hingham CARES are pleased to welcome Laura Stack of Johnny’s Ambassadors who will deliver a keynote speech on the risks of modern marijuana and its impact on the developing teen brain. Through a comprehensive presentation\, she describes the various new forms of marijuana (i.e. waxes\, dabs\, shatter)\, how marijuana differs in potency from even 10 years ago and the science behind marijuana’s addictive nature. She also shares her personal story. Laura is from Colorado and lost her son to suicide in 2019 after he became psychotic\, paranoid and delusional as a result of his addiction to marijuana. Johnny was only 19 years old. He had begun using marijuana products when he was 14 after trying some at a party at a friend’s house. Recreational marijuana had been legalized in CO just two years before. “He was an incredibly intelligent\, funny\, charming\, handsome young man\,” says Laura. “We are a normal suburban family and did normal family things.” Laura will take questions from audience members\, and after her speech she will be autographing her book “The Dangerous Truth About Today’s Marijuana.” A limited number of copies will be made available for purchase at $20 each.
