Please help us do even more for Duxbury youth & families
Dear Friend,
Thank you for your ongoing support of the Duxbury Student Union. Our innovative after school programs for Alden, DMS, and DHS students put us on the map, but as you know, after school is only part of who we are. Our mission programs and activities serve Duxbury youth of ALL ages, kindergarten to college, and are made possible only through the generosity of community members like you. Please make a donation today and support our continued efforts to bring big world opportunities to all Duxbury youth through innovation, collaboration, inclusion, and FUN!
We’re excited to share just a few of our mission initiatives planned for 2020, take a look:
Our annual Network How, Network Now career and job fair connects DHS teens and recent grads with industry professionals and hiring managers to learn about career opportunities and find gainful employment and internships with local and Greater Boston area businesses.
Your donation to DSU will allow us to add two more job fairs in 2020, with an emphasis on Women in Business and Careers in the Trades.
Middle school tweens and teens are becoming increasingly disconnected in our hyperconnected virtual world. This is evident in the rising incidence of anxiety and depression among young people. The DSU is committed to providing youth with opportunities for true human and social connection.
Your generosity today will support the addition of a DSU Weekend Manager to allow us to provide more movie nights, game nights, dances, and themed events to inspire connectedness for this age group.
The world is changing rapidly for our youngest children. They must learn to safely navigate both the physical and virtual playground as well as take advantage of how the virtual classroom has changed the way we learn. The possibilities are endless and therefore more challenging!
Through special DSU events like Duxbury Splash & Dash, camp days, and Freaky Fridays throughout the school year, our program staff serve as mentors who help our youngest students learn about themselves, while refining and expanding these newly emerging skills.
And while events like Splash & Dash that encourage kids to participate in healthy competition, demonstrate good sportsmanship, and move really fast have their value in child development, we strongly believe in providing this age group opportunities to slow down and savor childhood!
We invite you to visit DuxburyStudentUnion.org/about to learn more about the awesome things we are doing with Duxbury youth and families, and while you’re at it please make a donation!
On behalf of the DSU and our Board of Directors, thank you for your support and for making it possible for us to provide innovative programs and events that help families and young people make the most of the amazing opportunities we have to live, work, learn, and play in this community.
With sincerest gratitude,
Sue Bradford | Executive Director
Gretchen O’Donnell | Board President
